He Kept Failing and Became the President of the United States

FAILURE! One of the harshest word that I have ever encountered. Not only the word is harsh itself, the feeling is tormenting!

The Ultimate Failure

Once upon a time. A man by the name of Abraham Lincoln wanted to run for office. In 1832, Abe ran for State Legislator and lost.

In 1836, he had a nervous breakdown and was bed ridden for 6 months. In 1838, he ran for the speaker of the state legislature and lost.

In 1840, he sought to become elector but lost that. 1843 he ran for congress and lost that too! Some how on 1846 he ran again for congress and won! (Hooray!)

1848, ran for congress for re-election but lost. He instead looked for a job as land officer and got rejected. But he did not stop here, his dreams got bigger and bigger.

In 1854, he ran for senate and guess what? He lost! In 1856, he ran for the 2nd highest position of all, Vice President, the VP and, you guessed it, he lost! He was crumpled in defeat. He only got less than a hundred votes.

In 1858, maybe he decided that he was too ambitious to become VP so he ran again for sen
ate, amazingly he lost again!

Talk about losing streak! I mean for a normal person, having all those defeat, one might say;

"I am not worth it.",

"I cannot do it. I am a failure. I better go back and just do what I can.".

Next to Failure is Success

Abraham Lincoln was not a normal person. After all those failures, he did not give up. He kept on running and running for a position. For us it would have been so embarrassing to keep on running and kept on failing. Abraham Lincoln might have felt the same but it did not stop him from doing what he wants!

In 1860, he ran for office and was elected as the President of the United States of America! Unbelievable! After failing a lot of times he managed to become the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!

Friend, do you have a dream in your life? Have you ever failed the first time you attempted to reach that? Painful? Worrying? Scary? That's normal! Failing is normal for many of us. In fact, failing is the key to success considering that we learn from our failures.

If Abe Lincoln let failure stop him, America would not see him as president.

You may be experiencing failures in your life now, financial failures, in relationship, in your career, in your family or maybe in your business. DO NOT LET THAT STOP YOU! If you fall, pick yourself up and keep on walking! Learn from those mistakes and failures and you will have your biggest success ever!

I remember this saying from The Feast, "Just like a bow and arrow, the greater the pull, the greater it travels.". The same thing with our life, the greater our SETBACK, the GREATER our COMEBACK!

For Lincoln, his setbacks were extremely set back. Experiencing the same? Then I warn you, be ready for the greatest comeback that you will ever have!

Reach for your dreams and never give up!

God Bless you!
